Works with your hardware

If it can speak SMTP, it works with DeviceSMTP

From a single office printer to a building full of sensors, point your device at our gateway and it just sends.

… and any other hardware capable of sending email over SMTP.

The problem

Built-in device SMTP was never built to last

Hardware email features are an afterthought. The internet around them changed; the firmware didn’t.

ISPs block outgoing SMTP

Ports 25, 465 and 587 are routinely blocked on business and residential lines, so your device’s mail silently fails.

Modern auth breaks old firmware

Gmail and Microsoft 365 dropped basic authentication. Firmware that can’t do OAuth or app passwords simply stops working.

No visibility when it fails

Most devices give you a single “send failed” line — if that. You find out an alert never arrived only when it’s too late.

Fragile, scattered config

Every printer, camera and controller has its own cryptic SMTP screen. One provider change means reconfiguring every device by hand.

How it works

Three steps from “send failed” to delivered

No SDKs, no code changes, no firmware updates. Just standard SMTP settings.

1

Create your account

Sign up and get your DeviceSMTP gateway hostname and a set of SMTP credentials in minutes.

2

Point your device at the gateway

Enter our SMTP host, port and credentials into your device’s email settings. Pick TLS or SSL — we support both.

3

Send & monitor

Your device sends as usual. We relay it reliably and show you every message, delivery and bounce in your dashboard.

Capabilities

An SMTP platform built around devices

Everything you need to make hardware notifications dependable — and to know they arrived.

Reliable SMTP relay

A hardened relay built for always-on devices, with automatic retries when a receiving server is temporarily unavailable.

TLS & SSL everywhere

Encrypt every connection. STARTTLS on 587/2525 and implicit TLS on 465 — whichever your hardware supports.

Per-device credentials

Give each printer, camera or controller its own SMTP username and password. Rotate or revoke one without touching the rest.

Delivery logs & monitoring

Every message is logged with its status, timestamp and destination, so you can prove an alert was sent.

Sender authentication

Verify your sending domain and align SPF and DKIM so your device mail lands in the inbox, not the spam folder.

Usage & statistics

Track volume, delivery rate and bounces per device and across your whole fleet from one dashboard.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure that treats every message as important

Your devices only send a few messages — but each one matters. A door forced. A disk failing. A backup that didn’t run.

Smart retries

Temporary failures are retried on a backoff schedule instead of being dropped.

Modern TLS

TLS 1.2 / 1.3 negotiation so even older devices connect over an encrypted channel.

Multiple ports

587, 465 and 2525 available for firmware that only supports specific ports.

Always on

A relay designed to be there the moment your hardware needs to send.

Monitoring

Know exactly what every device sent

Stop guessing whether a notification went out. DeviceSMTP records each message with its status so you can answer “did it send?” in seconds.

Email activity log

A searchable, per-device timeline of every message and its delivery status.

Bounce monitoring

See rejected and bounced mail immediately, with the reason the receiving server gave.

Name your devices

Label credentials as “Camera — Warehouse entrance” so logs read like your building, not IP addresses.

Security

Encrypted, authenticated, accountable

Security isn’t a plan tier. Every DeviceSMTP account gets encryption in transit, authenticated sending and verifiable logs.

Encryption in transit

STARTTLS and implicit TLS on every supported port, with modern cipher suites.

SPF & DKIM alignment

Authenticate your sending domain so recipients trust mail from your hardware.

Scoped credentials

Per-device usernames mean a compromised camera can’t leak your whole account.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Why does my printer or camera need an SMTP gateway?

Many devices can technically send email, but their built-in SMTP often fails in practice: ISPs block outgoing mail ports, and providers like Gmail and Microsoft 365 no longer accept the simple username-and-password login that older firmware uses. DeviceSMTP gives your device one stable, standards-based destination that is built to accept and relay its mail.

Do I need to change my device’s firmware or add code?

No. You only change the SMTP settings your device already has — hostname, port, encryption and credentials. There is nothing to install and no code to write.

Which SMTP ports and encryption do you support?

DeviceSMTP accepts connections on standard submission ports including 587 and 2525 with STARTTLS, and 465 with implicit SSL/TLS, so you can match whatever your hardware supports. See the configuration docs for details.

Can every device have its own credentials?

Yes. You can issue a separate SMTP username and password for each device, label them meaningfully, and revoke any one of them without affecting the others.

How do I know whether a device actually sent an email?

Every message your devices send is recorded in your activity log with a status, timestamp and destination, so you can confirm delivery or see exactly why something bounced.
